Our milling machines are renowned for their reliability and it is something we are proud of at Chester Machine Tools.
To help keep your machines in peak condition, here are our top tips for maintaining performance.
- Clean your mill down regularly, ensuring the bed is clear of all shavings.
➡️ Gear head mills: check the oil level from the side glass and top up if necessary. We recommend Hydraulic 32 oil for our machines.
➡️ Belt driven mills: Check the variable speed belt for signs of wear through the inspection cover on the side of the mill head.
- Check the safety circuits, including the safety stops and safety guards and ensure they are in the correct position.
- Check that the DRO reads accurately.
